The Office for Legislation of the Government of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton was established by the Decree on the Establishment of the Office for Legislation on April 21, 1999. The regulation was published in the Official Gazette of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton No. 9/99. - Authority of the Office - The Office for Legislation gives the Government of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, from the point of view of compliance with the Constitution of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton and the legal system, opinions on proposals for the adoption of laws, on drafts or on proposals for laws, other regulations and general acts passed by the Cantonal Assembly, i.e. the Government and on proposals for regulations passed by ministers and heads of cantonal administration bodies, - ensures methodological unity in the drafting of cantonal laws, other regulations and general acts passed by the Assembly of the Canton and the Government, - provides professional assistance to the ministries and other bodies of the cantonal administration, - studies and considers the issues of building the legal system and gives opinions and proposals to the Government on these issues, - prepares materials for the publication of laws, other regulations and general acts adopted by the Assembly of the Canton, the Government, ministers and managers of other bodies of the cantonal administration in the official gazette of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, - performs other tasks entrusted to it by the Government in connection with its scope of work. The Rulebook on the internal organization and systematization of positions approved by the Government has systematized 7 positions in the Office, namely: - Secretary of the Office; - assistant secretary of the Office; - three expert advisors; - two employees The office currently employs an office secretary, an assistant to the office secretary and one employee to perform administrative and technical work. In addition to exercising the authority prescribed by the Decree on Establishment, the Office, together with the relevant ministries, is intensively working on building the legal system of the Canton, which is the basis for the functioning of the authorities in the entire area of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton. The Office underwent an audit by the Civil Service Agency and received a notification regarding the legality of establishing an employment relationship and the legality of being appointed to positions, so that the Secretary of the Office and his assistant will undergo an evaluation process in the next 18 months, in accordance with the Law on Civil Service of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
